What is Preservation Ranch applying for?
Preservation Ranch is asking Sonoma County for approval of a three-part application that will allow vineyards to be planted and land to be donated to the County or dedicated to conservation:
- A rezone of selected areas intended to be vineyards, from the current Timber Production zoning (TP) to a Resource and Rural Development zoning (RRD) which allows agriculture
- A rezone of portions of TP-zoned land to RRD and RRD-zoned land to TP, permitting land to be donated to Sonoma County to expand the Soda Springs Reserve park and setting aside land to be protected by conservation easement in the Windy Gap Preserve
- A conditional use permit (CUP) for the timber conversion process necessary in the selected areas intended for vineyards
If approved, the total amount of land dedicated to forestry, conservation or recreation will actually increase compared to the current zoning on Preservation Ranch.
